About Us
ZooGuide.io helps parents create happy memories exploring, learning and bonding with their children at the zoo.
Imagine this:
- You're at the zoo, either trying to find a map or staring at a map trying to figure out where you are and how to get to the animals your kids want to see.
- Turns out, they're on the other side of the zoo (obviously). So, being a wonderful parent, you walk all the way across the zoo to try to make your kids happy.
- Unfortunately, the animals aren't much interested in being seen today and there isn't a lot of information posted either.
- As you try to figure out what plan B is, your kids try to help by complaining about the situation and asking lots of questions that you don't know how to answer.
- The next thing you know, someone in your party is about to pee themselves so your top priority becomes finding the nearest bathroom.
- It's a lot hotter than you expected it to be, you couldn't find the carousel, you're as far from the parking lot as one could possibly be (of course) and nap time was supposed to start an hour ago.
- Your kids are disappointed and cranky, one of them smells like urine and you wonder why you even bothered coming to the zoo today.
Try us out next time.
Our Story
As a father of three young girls, finding activities that captivate our whole family can be a challenge. But one place we all love visiting is the zoo.
Exotic animals, snacks and rides; the zoo is a place of wonder for my children. It reminds me of my childhood, when life was simpler and the world seemed full of adventure and possibilities. Even so, the experience can sometimes fall flat when the animals are hiding or their presentation is lackluster.
Years ago, my dad and I went to Boston and we took a guided tour of the Freedom Trail. At the time, I was a broke college student, so I remember thinking it seemed a bit crazy that my dad was paying for a tour when we could have walked the trail ourselves for free.
I am so glad he did though.
Having a guide that was familiar with the route and knowledgeable about the events and people that make the Freedom Trail a national treasure was a phenomenal experience that has stuck with me for over a decade. You can't put a price on time like that with your parents or children.
After one of those not-so-awesome trips to the zoo, I was thinking about how our next trip could be better and I remembered that guided tour of the Freedom Trail and decided to build an app.
ZooGuide.io aims to be your own personal tour guide at the zoo; enhancing your visit by providing directions and relevant information as you tour exhibits.
Your time is valuable and your kids won't be young forever. Life is too short to settle for sub-par family outings; let's make your next trip to the zoo a memory you all cherish!
